Environmental Protection." MoEP Chief Scientist Prof. Noga Kronfeld-Schor: "I am pleased
to take on the role of Chief Scientist at the Ministry of Environmental Protection. [This role]
combines two areas that are very important to me: science and the environment.
Environmental protection is one of the biggest and most important challenges facing us
today, and the health and quality of life of all of us and of future generations are dependent
on our success in preserving the environment in Israel." Kronfeld-Schor holds a Bachelor's
degree in Biology, a Master's degree in Zoology and Management, and a PhD in Zoology
from the Faculty of Life Sciences at Tel Aviv University. She is a senior faculty member at
Tel Aviv University and a full professor at the School of Zoology. Over the years she has
held many management positions, both at the university and elsewhere. Among other
things Kronfeld-Schor: served as Head of the Department and of the Zoology School, was
a member of the board of directors of the Society for the Protection of Nature, was a
member of the plenum of the Nature and Parks Authority, was head of the Scientific and
Professional Committee of the Nature and Parks Authority, managed national and
international projects, and advised government bodies and international organizations.
The role of the chief scientist is important for the professional echelon of the Ministry of
Environmental Protection, as it includes strategic, scientific, and technological
consultations that are aimed at promoting the environmental field in Israel in accordance
with advancements being made in leading developed countries and OECD member
