Translating Children Literature (Seminar) Translating Children Literature might seem
"easy،" as it often involves grammatically and thematically simple texts. But، more than
other genres، Children Literature necessitates careful thought about educational
contents specific to various locations and cultures، and in that sense is laid with various
"landmines" such as child labor in Erich Kästner's Emil and the Detectives (as Emil is
working in his mother's hair-salon) or a collective memory of the Holocaust in Harry
Potter. The course reviews various sources and translations of Children Literature.
Objectives:
1. To review basic concepts in Translation Studies
2. Introduction to History and Theory of Children Literature
3. Children Literature، Politics and Culture
4. Discussing some sources about Children Literature in Arabic (by Maschiach، Bertz

     and Zamir).
5. Guidance and instruction in developing and researching a seminar topic.
Pedagogical Grammar The course deals with pedagogical issues related to language
teaching and language learning. After presenting basic concepts and approaches in
teaching language، the course presents a framework as well as a set of principles in
which teachers can embed their practice. Focus is always on the analysis of form،
meaning and use of particular grammar structures in particular communicative
contexts، and on suitable learning tasks and activities that enhance acquisition and
development of grammar forms.
Goals of the course:
